St. Louis Suburban School Nurses' Association is a district of the Missouri Association of School Nurses. We serve and support approximately 340 public and private school nurses in the metropolitan St. Louis area. We offer monthly meetings featuring speakers on topics of various interests to our membership.

SLSSNA provides Board of Director representation on the Missouri Association of School Nurses’.

SLSSNA contributes to the enhancement of school nursing practice. 

SLSSNA encourages and recognizes excellence in school nursing practice.

Our mission is to educate, support and enhance professionalism of School Nurses in the promotion of school health. 

The vision of the St. Louis Suburban School Nurses' Association is to promote recognition of school nurses as professionals by all stakeholders. SLSSNA honors outstanding school nurse leaders through awards in the following areas:

  • Emerging School Nurse of the Year

SLSSNA SPEAKERS SERIES

SLSSNA offers a monthly speaker series for the professional development of its members.

Location: St. Luke’s Hospital Institute for Health Education 232 South Woods Mill Road North Medical Building, lower level near the Emerson Auditorium.


Date: Third Thursday of each month during the school year. 

Time: 4:30- 6:15 pm, includes a short business meeting and presentation for one contact hour.

SLSSNA is partnered with St Luke's Hospital to provide continuing education for SLSSNA members.


St. Luke’s is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Must be present for the Presentation to earn contact hours.


Our new mission is to record our continuing education and provide the recordings to our members who could not make the meeting in person.

Membership Types

Active Members: Any current licensed registered professional nurse employed as a school nurse, school nurse substitute or school nurse administrator in the St. Louis suburban area. Cost per year is $20.


Associate Members:
Any currently licensed practical nurse employed to provide school health services, in accordance with Mo. Nurse Practice Act, in the St. Louis suburban area OR any teacher or other person interested in school health services in the St. Louis suburban area. Cost per year is $20.



Retired Members: Any retired member who desires to remain in the Active membership in classification shall be granted Active Life membership privileges. Cost per year is $20.

*We encourage school nurses from the Suburban St. Louis area to join our organization, but it is not a requirement to live or work in the St. Louis area to benefit from our membership.

St. Louis Suburban School Nurses' Association is a local district of the Missouri Association of School Nurses (state level), which is an affiliate of the National Association of School Nurses (national level).  We all work in collaboration for the goal of optimizing student health and learning.
